Soul Case is the alias of Bojan Janev, a Skopje based DJ, digger and promoter. Motivated by the lack of support given to young, creative individuals, he is constantly trying to push things forward – personally, but also in terms of diversifying and supporting the local scene. His projects “Oubli” and the more recent “Amok Radio” quickly gained huge appreciation across people in and outside of the country and turned out to be a much-needed refreshment in a rather dull society. Despite having his roots and beginnings since his teenage years in golden era, sample based hip- hop, and having a strong soul/disco influence since his childhood through which he discovered more dancefloor oriented underground music, he always challenged himself to be as versatile and eclectic as possible. Not being scared of taking risks, his sets result in constantly exciting ones, not giving dancers the ability to predict his next move. At only 26 years he has become a staple in Skopje’s underground scene, holding various residencies at the legendary “Sektor 909” and the more recent “Minus Eden” club. He hasn’t gone unnoticed outside the country’s borders too – having spun records across dancefloors in Germany, Italy, Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Japan and South Korea. With years of experience, he has played alongside the likes of ‘Running Back’ boss Gerd Janson, ‘Uzuri Recordings’ own Lakuti, Tornado Wallace (Runing Back), house Don Osunlade (Yoruba Records), Lipelis (Animals Dancing) and Benedek (Second Circle) - just to name a few. Besides being the most popular show, on his ‘Monthly Operation’ on Amok Radio he invites friends and a variety of like-minded diggers from all around the world. He has had mixes and guest shows featured on Fauve Radio (Hong Kong), Hamon Radio (Tokyo) Norio AZ Music Radio (Osaka), Radio Student (Ljubljana) and more. Expect nothing less than a musical journey through all kinds of sounds – be it classic house records, obscure and percussive goodies, African jams or feel-good disco tracks.
