Baby T mastermind Brianna Price knows her way around a dance. Years spent producing, DJing and touring under the B.Traits alias have given her a vast knowledge of rave culture. In a sense, Baby T allows Brianna to go back to the start. While the successful DJ/production career as B.Traits has demonstrated her love for so many different kinds of club music, as a teenager she cut her teeth at jungle raves. When operating as Baby T she zeroes in on the hardcore principles learned in those early days behind the decks. However, Baby T is more than just Price rekindling an old passion. This project also expresses something innate to her artistic vision, a need to make bold, dark, visceral work. As Baby T, Price flips the buoyancy of B.Traits’ music into something far moodier - in her own words, “B.Traits is more the front-facing ego, and Baby T is what’s been sitting in the shadows.” With the launch of her new Banshee imprint, Baby T draws on the “esoteric aggressive feminine energy” of the folkloric figure which gives the label its name. Anyone who has encountered a Baby T tune in a dark basement over the years should know that there will be no messing around with Banshee’s output. Baby T specialises in hardcore rave tackle schooled by junglism, electro and darkside techno, the project’s sound honed via releases on labels like Samurai Music and Central Processing Unit. It’s a style at once wild yet focussed, untamed yet laser-precise.
