Driven by the emotive power of electronic music and its impact on the dance floor, Ben Evers channels his deep experience into the music he makes and plays. Inspiration from the worlds of hip hop, RnB and house music feeds into his exhilarating productions. With a couple of decades touring the globe as a selector, plus an equally comprehensive background in the studio, Ben’s versatility and innate talent make him an exceptional artist. His music has landed on Permanent Vacation, Live At Robert Johnson and Correspondant, with a large batch of new music cued up for release.
Stepping into a new chapter, Ben’s current iteration as a solo artist is the catalyst behind a vibrant phase of creative freedom. A world of possibility has opened up and he’s relishing the opportunity to express his individuality. Stand by for future dance floor transmissions…
Ben’s heartbeat pumps to the rhythm of nineties hip hop, RnB and house, it’s food for his soul and provides the inspiration to much of the music he produces. It was a golden era, pre-internet, yet still so immersed in technology. The roots of his sound trace back to that special time, and the energy of the nineties reverberates through his compositions. He describes it as a fire that burns inside him, the need to channel the vibrations of that era into his sound. This, in combination with contemporary influences, forms the backbone of his sonic identity.
Out of this fertile creativity came ‘Chica’, a track that has whipped up fevered interest across the DJ world. Utilising a very familiar vocal clip, it was initially made for fun with his friend Najeh, without any intention - as the best tracks often are. Saoirse started playing it at Body Movements, making it a regular feature of her sets. After she played it at a Circoloco afterparty in Thailand the reaction was wild. One of those “it was meant to be” kind of tracks, made in the moment, handed out to a select few, and organically triggering its own buzz. Ben has been inundated with requests for the ID and release date, with a long list of DJ peers reaching out for a copy to play in their sets… Saoirse decided to sign ‘Chica’ to her Trust label, and the rest is history. Now Ben is carrying the success and momentum of ‘Chica’ into his studio work, producing more and more as he revels in the inspiration.
Alongside this standout track, Ben has been busy in the studio building up a solid collection of cuts ready to play, send out and, hopefully, sign. Interest from his contemporaries and some of the younger generation has been widespread. Over the last few years he has released with Permanent Vacation (Ravers Of The Universe EP), Live At Robert Johnson (The Feeling & One Touch EP) and Jen Cardini’s Correspondant (‘High Energy’). Each release signalling Ben’s shift into his solo artistry while encapsulating his distinct sound - built for the dance floor, with positive energy and crisp production.
Ben has also been curating and A&Ring for his own label - Eternal Sunshine. A home for his own music, along with a cast of talented remixers, the label embodies his upbeat approach. Remixers include Jex Opolis, Massimiliano Pagliara, Man Power, Maruwa and Schiela. The label name itself reflects the positive energy that emanates through all the releases so far. Music to move the body, to encourage people to dance and let loose. Music for the rave. Ben has found joy in going with the flow, simply allowing his ideas to bubble up and emanate from him, without overthinking the process.
As well as his more dance floor-focused material, Ben has been putting his energy into more pop-leaning productions. The long-term plan is to work towards an album project, giving him the space to stretch out and showcase his song-based production skills. While that’s currently a distant project, it demonstrates just how creative Ben is feeling right now. Bursting with ideas and getting in the studio as often as he can - alone and with other artists, too.
If you’re wondering about his artist name, it’s a homage to his family, taking the last name of his partner Maya Evers, who is also an artist. Demonstrating his heartfelt love for his partner and their children, he took the name with the intention of playing future back-to-back shows with her. This is Ben Evers all round, committed to his family, and maintaining an ethos rooted in love and positivity. Those keywords form the foundation of his approach to music and life in general.
A dedicated disciple of the dance floor with a clear vision of his next phase, Ben Evers has stepped into his individuality equipped with an arsenal of knowledge, experience and talent that will take him exactly where he wants to go…
