Madrid based producer and DJ Merca Bae, has established himself as a highly skilled creator of club rhythms and is recognized internationally across the music scene. His influences draw on genres like dancehall and reggaeton, focused on crafting highly danceable tracks that manifest in a wide range of BPM’s, styles and genres. His selection and production styles are also shaped by the time he spent living in London; being inspired by dubstep, techno and jungle. Merca is known for both his versatility and unique melodic approach to production. He has been described as one of the most groundbreaking artists in Spain; filling a gap between dancehall and Caribbean rhythms, heavy basslines, and indus- trial beats. Merca has self released several EPs, compilations and mix- tapes that placed him firmly on the map of the underground. They led him to play in different continents and at festivals such as Sónar (Barcelona), Primavera Sound (Brazil, Chile), Creepy Teepy (Czech Republic) or Mutek (Barcelona); and clubs including Berghain (Berlin), Cakeshop (Seoul), All (Shanghai), Terminal (Mexico DF) or Boiler Room. He has also appeared on canonical radio stations such as NTS, Rinse FM, Radar Radio, Shanghai Community Radio, Reprezent Radio or The Lot Radio. Further, Merca is also introducing Manrique Machete, his new aka that explores club music through acid breaks, jungle, ghetto house and electro. This great level of international recognition quickly led him to becoming one of the most valued producers and DJs on the Spanish scene. Merca currently has his own radio show ‘Místico Dubs’; curates his own night party ‘Nocturna’ and is one of the creative directors of Bad Gyal’s show and her official live DJ.
